Day 1: Bonjour, Pondicherry!
Date: November 14
Places Visited: Chennai to Pondicherry, French Colony
We kicked off our trip with excitement levels higher than Chennai’s summer temperatures. The plan? A comfortable bus ride along the East Coast Road (ECR), one of the most scenic routes in India. With the Bay of Bengal on one side and lush greenery on the other, it was like nature whispering, “Welcome to paradise.”
Unfortunately, traveling in an AC bus meant missing out on the salty sea breeze, but hey, we weren’t complaining about the stunning views. By 6 PM, we rolled into Pondicherry, where an auto-rickshaw took us straight to our hotel.

After a quick freshen-up session, it was time to explore the French Colony. Picture this: brightly colored buildings, charming balconies, and a vibe that screamed “bonjour!” We strolled around, pretending we were in Paris. Dinner was calling, so we wrapped up the day with a hearty meal before crashing into our comfy hotel beds.

Day 2: Boats, Beaches, and Boozy Ice Cream
Date: November 15
Places Visited: Chunnambar Boating, Paradise Beach, Chinna Veerampattinam
Day 2 started with a delicious breakfast and the thrill of renting a scooty—the ultimate way to explore Pondy. First stop: Chunnambar Boating, a place where the river meets the sea. From there, a boat whisked us away to Paradise Beach, a pristine island with golden sands and fewer crowds (yay for Instagram-worthy photos).

We played in the water like kids, splashing around and soaking up the sun. Honestly, I could’ve stayed there forever, but the growling stomach had other plans. After grabbing a quick lunch and a short nap back at the hotel, we were off again.

Next up was Chinna Veerampattinam Beach (Eden Beach), another gem that required crossing a small river to reach. The road to the beach was a seafood lover’s dream—think sizzling stalls offering everything from prawns to squid. My personal highlight? Trying the famous alcohol-infused ice cream. It was boozy, creamy, and totally worth the hype. With happy hearts (and full tummies), we headed back to the hotel to recharge for Day 3.

Day 3: Serenity and Sunset Walks
Date: November 16
Places Visited: Auroville, Rock Beach
It was Saturday, and we were all set to explore the spiritual side of Pondy. A quick scooty ride took us to Auroville, an experimental township dedicated to human unity. Walking through the lush greenery to reach the Matrimandir Viewpoint was a meditative experience. The golden dome in the middle of the serene landscape looked straight out of a sci-fi movie.

After soaking in the calm vibes, we returned to our rooms for a power nap. By evening, it was time for Rock Beach, a place that truly comes alive on weekends. The stretch near the beach is vehicle-free, so you can wander around without worrying about honking cars ruining the vibe.

With ice creams in hand, we strolled along the French Colony once more, taking in the sights of government buildings and local shops. The food street nearby was buzzing, and we happily stuffed ourselves with a mix of local and international bites. Pro tip: Never say no to the street food here. It’s a vibe.
Day 4: Au Revoir, Pondy
Date: November 17
Places Visited: Pondicherry to Chennai
Sunday morning brought a tinge of sadness as we packed our bags. But first, breakfast—because no journey should start on an empty stomach. After returning the scooty and checking out, we boarded the bus back to Chennai.
The drive back along ECR felt like rewinding a beautiful movie we’d just lived. By 4 PM, we were back in Chennai, tired but brimming with memories.

Final Thoughts
Though it was just a short trip, Pondicherry packed in enough fun, food, and adventure to feel like a mini-vacation in another world. From stunning beaches to cultural charm and, yes, boozy ice creams, this trip was an absolute delight.
Until the next adventure, keep wandering and stay curious. Pondicherry, you were magnifique!
See you on the next trip, folks!
